Tell us about your school and its team.
Our district is small, rural, and in the middle of Washington state so we travel hours to get to each tournament. We are one of Dwight D. Eisenhower High School’s most successful teams and have even hosted our own in-person speech and debate tournament. We have had between 8-12 students the last few years, but this year is looking like 15 students.

What accomplishments has your team achieved recently?
We have historically been very successful, sending the whole team to the Washington State Championships more years than not. In the last 4 years, we've had champions and finalists at the tournament. We even sent a Duo Interpretation team to the National Speech & Debate Tournament in my first year as coach! For this upcoming season, we plan on competing in around 8 tournaments, including the State Championships.
Which events do you participate in?
Dramatic Interpretation (DI), Duo Interpretation (DUO), Humorous Interpretation (HI), Program Oral Interpretation (POI), Impromptu (IMP), Informative Speaking (INF), Mixed Extemporaneous Speaking (MX), Original Oratory (OO), Congressional Debate (House & Senate) (CON), Lincoln-Douglas Debate (LD), Public Forum Debate (PF), World Schools Debate (WS)
How could additional funding help your school?
We will use this funding for transportation related costs during the competition season for our 15 expected competitors. We need to travel hours to get to most tournaments.
