Tell us about your school and its team.
Our team is composed of two different merging west side schools in Montgomery, Alabama. Consisting primarily of 8 to 10 students low-income families, our team’s hope is to compete more frequently. Even with our limited funds and the fact that we are still in our founding years, we have been fortunate to send students to the National Speech & Debate Tournament

What accomplishments has your team achieved recently?
We have historically been very successful, sending the whole team to the Washington State Championships more years than not. In the last 4 years, we've had champions and finalists at the tournament. We even sent a Duo Interpretation team to the National Speech & Debate Tournament in my first year as coach! For this upcoming season, we plan on competing in around 8 tournaments, including the State Championships.

Which events do you participate in?
United States Extemporaneous Speaking (USX), Big Questions (BQ), Congressional Debate (House & Senate) (CON), Lincoln-Douglas Debate (LD), Public Forum Debate (PF), World Schools Debate (WS)

How could additional funding help your school?
Our team will use additional funding to pay for dues, tournaments, supplies, and food, ultimately allowing us to compete on a more regular basis.
