Eloquence Academy is excited to announce the recipient of a new grant from the National Contribution Project (NCP). The grant places Eloquence Academy among one of 200 organizations nationwide that is committed to leading youth-driven work this fall.
Established in 2019, NCP is a joint initiative co-funded by the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation, Bezos Family Foundation, Cornell University, GripTape Inc., and the Purpose Commons. In collaboration with Anthony Burrow, Associate Director of Psychology and Human Development and Director of the Bronfenfenbrenner Center for Translational Research and PRYDE (the Program for Research on Youth Development Engagement) at Cornell University, NCP’s primary goal is to publish a multi-decade research study examining the synergy between student-driven contribution and the development of purpose. They provide youth ages 14-25 full control to design 6-week community betterment initiatives. NCP has supported over 850 students at Binghamton University, Cornell University, and Stony Brook University, and distributed nearly $500,000 to nonprofit organizations.
“The Eloquence Charitable Fund teaches our students about civic responsibility and community engagement,” said Spencer Chaisanguanthum, Chief Executive Officer of Eloquence Academy. “Dr. Burrow’s research is inspiring, impactful, and deeply aligned with our belief in the importance of developing youth into well-rounded leaders. Receiving this grant is crucial to our mission and will continue to propel our unwavering commitment to rural and historically underserved communities.”
Director of Tournaments Vedant Misra and Tournaments Coordinator Alexander Wang will work together to manage the grant funding in advance of our flagship Winter Cup Debate Tournament. The two-day tournament will be held from December 15, 2024 through December 16, 2024, with divisions in Public Forum Debate for students in grades 4 through 12.
