K4C was founded in 2012 by 21-year-old Cara Becker and her family. At the time, Cara was being treated for leukemia. Cara spent weeks at a time in the hospital, which presented her with time to reflect on her life, her situation, and how fortunate she was to have such a dedicated and solid support system. Seeing the stark contrast between her circumstances and those of the patients around her, Cara began hosting blood drives in Baltimore and Chicago. Now, driven by the power of kindness, K4C has broadened their mission: developing youth into citizen leaders and preparing them to take active roles to repair our world. Their quarterly microgrants provide the inspiration and financial support needed to elevate 180 burgeoning community betterment initiatives to the next, increasingly impactful level.
Over the past four years, K4C has been a stalwart supporter of Eloquence Academy, offering over $5,000 in grant funding across eight cycles. They have helped conceive several key programs: the 2024 & 2025 Winter Cup Debate Tournaments, Project Period, and Trash Talking: Environmental Advocacy Through Art.
This year’s conference, themed “14 Years of Service & Youth Leadership,” was hosted in West Palm Beach, Florida and attended by nearly 100 close friends and family of K4C’s founders. Spencer shared the anecdotal and statistical impact of the two K4C-funded tournaments and emphasized the importance of social advocacy and service. The program featured four other speakers sharing their respective social impact journeys: Ella Crowley of Phoenix Project, which matches formerly incarcerated individuals with second chances; Olivia Sobolewski of Project Coin, a financial literacy program; Shriyadita De of Brain Box Organization, a science camp for young girls; and Claire Wang of Music No Boundaries, a student group performing free music concerts in public spaces. Attendees were truly inspired and donated to K4C, investing in the next generations of youth.
To conclude the event, Spencer and all other speakers were surprised with a new grant, which Eloquence Academy will dedicate to civic engagement initiatives for America’s quincentennial.
