Tell us about your school.
Our school is a Title I school so competing is expensive for the students. We seem to be constantly fundraising!
Tell us about your team.
Our Debate, Interp/Speech team competes in almost all events offered in the state of Georgia and in the NSDA main events. The team has about 30 students who travel around the southeast to compete. All of the tournaments in Georgia (except for the one we host) are held in Atlanta, four hours away from Valdosta. This requires our team to have extra expenses for hotels and meals.
Which events do you participate in?
Dramatic Interpretation (DI), Duo Interpretation (DUO), Humorous Interpretation (HI), Poetry (POE), Program Oral Interpretation (POI), Prose (PRO), Impromptu (IMP), Informative Speaking (INF), International Extemporaneous Speaking (IX), Mixed Extemporaneous Speaking (MX), Original Oratory (OO), Original Spoken Word Poetry (SW), United States Extemporaneous Speaking (USX), Big Questions (BQ), Congressional Debate (House & Senate) (CON), Extemporaneous Debate (XDB), Lincoln-Douglas Debate (LD), Public Forum Debate (PF), World Schools Debate (WS)
How could additional funding help your school?
Funds would be used to cover hotel expenses at the Carrollton High School tournament.
